Free Trade Zone (FTZ)
The Filipino Government has legislated a Special Economic Zone law in 1995 to provide investment incentives for investments in industrial complexes, export processing zones and free trade zones. The law designates Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) and Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) as Free Trade Zones.
Subic Bay Freeport (SBF)
Subic Bay Freeport, which is administered by Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), is located 80km to the North of Manila and the total area is 7,000 Hectares. It is a natural deep-sea port, which possesses manpower with fluent English-speaking capabilities, power plant with combined power generating facilities, adequate water supply and drainage management systems and ports.
Benefits: Investing companies will benefit from exemptions of tariff and taxes when importing raw materials, infrastructure and materials for consumption, exemption of all national and local taxes excluding the final tariff of 5% of income, and allowing 100% foreigner ownership.
Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ)
Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ), located 80km away from Manila and 70km away from SBF, is administered by Clark Development Corp. (CDC) and possesses 1,020 hectares of land.
