Hub of logistics ports - Subic
Possessing two 300,000 TEU-class ports with port terminals, grain terminal, general container cargo and passenger carrier docking capabilities, Subic is planning to construct a 14 million TEU-class container terminal by July, 2007.

Foundation of Hanjin Heavy Industries Shipyard
Hanjin Heavy Industries is investing over one billion dollars on a 3.3 million square meter property for over 10 years until 2016 to build a shipyard, and it will relocate 20,000 employees and 250 suppliers. It has already been commissioned to build 12 ships, and it will create 20,000 new jobs by 2016, which will increase Subic's population dramatically.

Subic-Clark-Tarlac Highway due for completion
A highway that connects Subic Port, Clark Airport and Tarlac Industrial Complex is due to be completed by September 2007, and it will reduce the driving time by over 30 minutes, which will accelerate the logistics flow of Subic region.

Progress of a Mammoth Project to change the future of Subic

Subic Port Construction
March 2000 - Japanese government announces to provide support of 34.7 billion Yen for Philippine's 3 new projects - Subic Bay Port Development Project (1.57 Billion Dollars): Construction of new container terminal and improved port facilities.

August 2000 - Selection of Philippine's No. 2 Container Terminal Consultant Construction plan to utilize unused land to the North of Subic Port and South of Subic International Airport.

October 2000 - Selection of a consultant for the container terminal project, which is planned to take place in Northern part of Mindanao island and Luzon island. Announced plans to carry out extensive engineering for the year, and select construction companies in fall of 2001.

June 2004 - Penta Ocean J/V commissioned by the Subic Port Container Terminal Corporation to construct a 13m deep, 560m long wharf, capable of simultaneously berthing two 450DWT (Deadweight Tonnage) container carriers, along with a 30 hectare container storage area with 4 cranes using Japan Bank of International Cooperation's (JBIC) funds. Due to be completed by July 2007.

Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Project (SCTEP)
September 2001 - Japan grants a 41.93 billion Yen (360 million Dollars) loan for the Subic Port, Clark Airport, Tarlac lndustriaI Complex, SCTEP Expressway.

March 2003 - Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) expresses willingness to provide 18.7 billion Pesos (375 million Dollars) to support construction of Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (90km).

October 2005 - BCDA agrees to carry out Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Project (SCTEP: 94.5km) with the Japanese Consortium at the lowest bid of 21 billion Pesos (approximately 380 million Dollars).

  2. Clark - Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac (44km)

Construction of Subic Hanjin Shipyard
May 2005 - Hanjin sings MOU for building Steel Fabrication Shop. Begins construction in the 4th quarter with the goal of being operational in the 1st quarter of 2007. Invests 500 million Won on 71 acre property. Expects to achieve 550 million Won in annual sales of hatch covers for new 30,000 ton-class container carriers from 2008.

February 2006 - Established Overseas Branch Office (HHIC - Phil Inc.).

February 2006 - Commissioned to build four 4,300 TEU-class container carriers by CMA CGM Corporation of France.

February 2006 - Announced plans to build a shipyard (Investment Amount: 700 billion Won, March 2006 to 2016). Finalizes plans to build a shipyard on a 555 acre Site. Expand businesses to LOG Carriers and Very Large Crude Oil Carriers after completion of Steel Fabrication Shop. Will achieve 9 times the building capability of Yeongdo Shipyard (63 acre), Busan (from 18 ships a year to 50 ships a year).

February 2006 - Signs land lease contract (HHIC - Phil Inc - SBMA).

March 2006 - Begins construction.

July 2006 - Construction delayed due to relocation of local residents and bad weather, postponement of plans to begin building the first ship in May '07 and to complete the first sip by June '08.

December 2006 - Samsung Networks establishes the IT infrastructure of Subic Shipyard, supplies backbone switches, backbone networks, builds overall network, internet phone, security system, electronic sensors, and overall monitoring system.

March 2006 - Plans to begin building 4,300 TEU - class container carriers (Construction completed 2 months earlier than initial plans):
