Atlas Fertilizer Corporation (AFC), incorporated on October 10, 1957, is the oldest operating and the first fertilizer company in the country to achieve full scale manufacturing of a complete line of mixed fertilizer grades, alternatively known as compound inorganic fertilizer and more famously called by our farmers as the NP- NPK- NK fertilizers.

N-stands for Nitrogen, while P-stands for Phosphorus and K- stands for Potassium. These are the primary elements required by plants to support its nutrient requirements during the different growing stages from maturity upto harvest. The correct amount of fertilizer nutrients that will be applied, will depend on the available nutrients present in the soil. This amount should harmonize with the requirements of the crop and variety that will be planted in a specific field in order to attain bountiful harvest.

Atlas fertilizer products are packed in a 50 kilogram bag.
Each bag of a specific Atlas fertilizer product indicates the content of nutrient/s(%) in available forms. The diagram shows for example, that HI- Yield Gro contains 17% N, 7% P2O5 and 17% K2O with added nutrients like Sulfur, Calcium and Chlorine.
All manufactured Atlas fertilizer products contain “bag tag” located inside the bag for a more efficient tracking of the produced product.

The diagram shows the complete essential elements/nutrients needed by the crop in order to sustain normal growth and development. These nutrients can be obtained from the soil which includes the macronutrients that are required by plants in higher amounts and micronutrients that are needed in smaller quantities. While macronutrients and micronutrients can be found naturally in the soil and can be supplied by inorganic fertilizers that we have, carbon, oxygen and water are naturally occurring elements and substance that are equally necessary for photosynthesis to take place with the presence of sunlight. This food making process in the plant converts all these materials into nutrients to form amino acids and proteins that is necessary for the development of plant organs which includes roots, stem, leaves, flower and fruits.

The 4R’s- right kind, amount, timing and placement are all interconnected and should be considered in fertilizer application for crop production.
Choose the right kind of fertilizer that matches the nutrient need of a specific crop.
Apply appropriate amount of fertilizer in order to maximize the yield of the crop. Follow correct recommendations of the specific crops to avoid under application and over feeding of nutrients to raise vigorous plants.
Follow the right timing of application. Fertilization should be done at the right time giving emphasis on the different critical growth stages of the crop in order to sustain normal growth and attain better yield.
Fertilizers must be applied where the plant roots can easily access them for efficient absorption and avoid nutrient loss.

Best management practices which include proper selection of seeds, follow correct land preparation and cultural practices, effective pest and disease control, efficient water management and sustainable nutrient management practices are keys to attain bountiful yield or harvest.
