Advanced Device and Materials Testing Laboratory (ADMATEL) is a DOST testing laboratory equipped with advanced analytical equipment for failure analysis and materials characterization. we provide test services that address advanced analytical needs for quality control, materials identification and R&D.

We perform tests with accurate results and short turnaround time at less cost. Our service include test recommendation, data interpretation and discussion of result with clients to help them come up with creative solutions and innovations.

The ADMATEL building is located inside the DOST Compound at Gen. Santos Ave., Bicutan, Taguig City, Philippines. It has a total floor area of 2,880 sq. m. and houses three laboratories, namely: Surface Analysis Laboratory, Thermal Analysis Laboratory, and Chemical & Metallurgical Laboratory.

The construction of ADMATEL’s facilities was based on the standards acceptable for a scientific laboratory to accommodate sophisticated equipment such as Focused Ion Beam – Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FIB-FESEM), Auger Electron Spectrometer (AES), and Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer (TOF-SIMS).

Facilities

All laboratories in ADMATEL are class 100k clean room, and standard ESD safety compliance.

                   

Surface Analysis Laboratory

The Surface Analysis Laboratory specializes in understanding surface characteristics and nanoscale features of various materials. It houses three highly-advanced equipment that evaluate and provide morphology, elemental, chemical and molecular information, and even internal structures. It enables and strengthens the Filipino scientific community by providing ultra high-resolution images and chemical analysis.

Fib Fesem

FIB-FESEM combines the most advanced scanning electron microscope and focus ion beam technologies with innovative gas etching chemistries and detectors to provide high resolution imaging, fast milling, and site-specific sample preparation down to nanoscale level.

Auger

AES is a surface analysis equipment that identifies and quantifies the elemental compositions on or near the surface by measuring the energies of emitted Auger electrons. JAMP-9500F Auger Microprobe is capable of high resolution SEM imaging, Auger image mapping and depth profiling.

TOF-SIMS

TOF-SIMS is a very sensitive surface analysis technique that provides detailed elemental and molecular information about the surface, thin layers, and interfaces of the sample at a depth of one to three monolayers from the topmost surface.

Thermal Analysis Laboratory

The Thermal Analysis Laboratory offers tests that determine the thermal properties of material as it is being heated, cooled, or exposed to a constant temperature. It also have an equipment which can identify organic and polymeric materials like plastics, rubbers, paints, inks, and adhesives.

FTIR

The Thermal Analysis Laboratory offers tests that determine the thermal properties of material as it is being heated, cooled, or exposed to a constant temperature. It also have an equipment which can identify organic and polymeric materials like plastics, rubbers, paints, inks, and adhesives.

FTIR-Microspectroscopy

The Thermal Analysis Laboratory offers tests that determine the thermal properties of material as it is being heated, cooled, or exposed to a constant temperature. It also have an equipment which can identify organic and polymeric materials like plastics, rubbers, paints, inks, and adhesives.

THERMOGRAVIMETRY / DIFFERENTIAL THERMAL ANALYZER (TG/DTA )

SIMULTANEOUS THERMAL ANALYZER

Characteristics

  • Acquire both DSC and TGA results in a single, small instrument

DSC

DSC is used to obtain the thermal profile of a sample material as it is heated, cooled, or held under isothermal conditions

    • Melting points or Tm
    • Crystallization times and temperatures
    • Heats of melting and crystallization

    • Heats of cure, completeness of cure, percent cure
    • Thermal stabilities

TMA

TMA is used to investigate the dimensional changes and softening of sample material as a function of temperature and/or time under a definite mechanical force. This equipment contains exchangeable sample holders for expansion, penetration, bending and tension measurements.

Applications

  • Determination of coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of metals, polymers, composites, ceramics and glasses.
  • Analysis of glass transition and softening point.
  • Characterization of visco-elastic properties of polymers , tension test, behavior under pressure.

Metallurgical and Chemical Laboratory

Chemical and Metallurgical Laboratory meets the requirements of ISO 17025, an international standard for testing laboratories, in the field of Mechanical Testing for Visual Inspection and Dimensional Measurement by Optical Microscopy using High Power (Compound Microscope) and Low Power (Stereo Microscope). The laboratory performs sample preparation, cross-sectioning, microscopic inspection, metallography & chemical decapsulation. The laboratory has sample preparation tools, optical microscopes, and gold sputter coater.
