The history of ALNO is as unique as our kitchens.

The company was founded in 1927 in the workshop of carpenter Albert Nothdurft. Over the next 30 years, the company grew consistently and eventually moved to Pfullendorf, where it is still based today. In 1958 ALNO Möbelwerke GmbH + Co KG was officially founded. In the following decades the company achieved international recognition for its kitchens. In 1995 ALNO became a public limited company and one of Europe’s market leaders. Over 750 employees based at Pfullendorf craft exquisitely designed ALNO kitchens of the highest quality. Across Europe and the world, these kitchens are central to family living.

Good for the Environment, Good for People

ALNO suppliers have to certify that their materials and products do not present any health dangers and adhere to the German and international quality standards concerning healthy living.

These standards guarantee that ALNO kitchens and their components do not generate any harmful emissions. Coating, lacquering and galvanizing processes only use non-toxic substances without compromising on quality standards particularly in respect of non-fading and scratch/wear resistant finishes. The GS safety label confirms the reliability and longevity of the functional and mobile parts. All materials undergo extensive tests in our own laboratories and are continuously monitored under the DIN ISO 9001 quality management system.

In addition to this, ALNO‘s environmental management system ensures that only environmentally conscious processes are used within the factory. The aim of this system is to achieve a resource-friendly production by identifying and implementing energy saving opportunities, such as encouraging a reduction in water consumption, as well as reducing the waste to an absolute minimum. Continuous training is given to all production employees to ensure responsible use of energy and other resources and in order to protect them from harmful conditions (e.g. how to reduce noise levels). A strict recycling policy is in operation at our production facilities and offices.

Listed are just a few examples of ALNO’s environmental policies:

And what happens to the old kitchens when the new ALNO kitchens arrive?

Environmental consciousness at ALNO runs from the initial idea through to completion of the finished product:

The range ALNOART WOODGLAS is an award winning example on how innovation, resource consideration and chic design can be combined to get a most impressive result! Following extensive research it has finally been possible to apply the visual effect of protected high-grade wood (e.g. jacaranda) through a special printing process onto the backside of glass. This process offers several great advantages: a continuous look for all veneer fronts and the use of glass, one of the most easy-care surfaces. And this is achieved without felling trees and without generating wood waste, as it would be the case if real wood veneer was processed.

The examples presented above are only a small extract taken from the various processes and policies applied at ALNO and clearly show the importance that is placed on the environment in our organisation. Our principle „“What is good for the environment is good for people“ is put into practice on a daily basis.

Quality

A kitchen like this will last for at least 20 years. For the sake of quality, we prefer to have control over every stage of the process – that is why ALNO kitchens are “made in Germany”.

We have had a passion for building good kitchens for over 80 years, and we know what’s important: first-rate materials, skilled craftsmen, technical precision. We check carefully every stage in the creation of each ALNO branded kitchen, from receipt of goods to final assembly. Unit base panels are tested for resistance to bending. Hinges are tested for long term durability. Surfaces have to pass the abrasion test and prove their resistance to chemicals. Our quality management system, which has been perfected over the years, ensures a high level of production. And some pieces of furniture are even finished off by us by hand.

ALNO branded kitchens stand up to daily use - regardless of how much strain you put on them.
