The tropical seas and consistent winds of the Philippines make the country a paradise for boardsailors. The two main wind patterns in the Philippines are the habagat, or southwest monsoon, which blows from June to September, and the amihan, or northeast monsoon, which prevails from October to April. The amihan draws sailors from all over Asia: the steady 12-30 knot winds and warm weather create ideal sailing conditions.

Boracay
On the eastern side of Boracay Island is Bulabog Beach. It is a board sailor's mecca that draws enthusiasts from all over the world, especially during the peak season from November to March. In January, it is the site of an International Fun board Cup.

Caliraya, Laguna
Ironically, one of the finest sailing sites in a country with thousands of kilometers of coastline is an artificial lake created by a dam. Caliraya, only three hours' drive from Manila, is a favorite destination for city-based board sailors. The wind comes in just above the water, leaving the surface glassy smooth, even in winds of up to 30 knots. These are perfect conditions for speed.
